Default My C6 Audio build.

When driving around with the Bose system at full blast and its not loud enough. Its time to upgrade.
I have some experience with audio upgrade. Did my 90 Firebird and ZR-1 with Pioneer pioneer equipment gut and replace.

I used this thread for the inspiration: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...rade-pics.html

Existing equipment before the speaker upgrade:
Head unit: Eonon GA2170
Wiring Interface: PAC RP5 GM11
Pioneer 10" Sub-woofer.
Picasso PA5.1600

I decided to use mostly Soundstream equipment due to size and cost:

Doors:
  • Pro Audio SM.800 8″ Pro Audio Mid-Range Speaker
  • Arachnid Series AF.42 4″ 2-Way Speaker
Rear:
  • Picasso Series PF.6 6.5″ 2-Way Component Speakers. (Only used the woofer)
Crossover: (front and subwoofer)
  • Soundstream PROX4.1
Amps used:
  • 1-Picasso Nano PN4.1000 1,000w Class D 4ch Amplifier
  • 2-Picasso Nano PN4.1000 1,000w Class D 4ch Amplifier
Custom Sub woofer box:
~.462 cu ft in each chamber.
  • Boss Audio CXX8 Sub woofer.
The goal for me was to get better and louder sound.

New tools to play with:
  • 1 1/2HP Heavy Duty Variable Speed Plunger Router - HF
  • Milescraft Circle Guide Kit - Lowes
  • Feller's and Feller crimpers.
No Sound deading yet.

Doors:

Arachnid Series AF.42 4″ 2-Way Speaker. Used ABS to make a bracket to fit the speaker.

Bought a new router from Harbor Freight and a Circle cutting tool at Lowes.
I think this is my 5th 8" bracket. 2 - 3/4" wood and 2 - 1/8" ABS
Noticed that the 1/8" ABS was touching the window when it was going up and down.
So I got some 3/8" ABS and that did the trick.

Mounted up the Pro Audio SM.800 8″ Pro Audio Mid-Range Speaker:
A bit of trimming is need on this round. Going to buy some trimming bits.

Ran new wiring.
  • 10 AWG Mid-bass 8"
  • 12 AWG 4" 2-ways
  • 14 AWG future tweeter

Amps and cross over.
I used 2 PN4.1000. I saw in another thread Stealth Install. Using amps that fit in the Bose Amp area.
The PN4.1000 are smaller then the Stealth Install.
Also in the picture I used XV8BXP (Audiopipe) 4 way digital cross over. Which had a broken connection. Easy return with Amazon.
1 - PN4.1000 is connected to the 8" and 4" front speakers.
2 - PN4.1000 is connected to the 5.25" rear speakers. One pair is open right now.

Power for the two PN4.1000. Battery to 4 gang block is 2 AWG from the block to amps are 4 AWG
All grounds are 4 AWG

I'm worried about the heat it will produce. But its been a few months. Its warm but not hot to the touch.

Both amps stacked - There is a 1/8 spacer between the amps.

Feller connectors.

This was the test fit photo. I need a photo when everything is mounted

Rear Speakers:
Picasso Series 6.5″ 2-Way Component Set in the 5.25 opening. Magnet does not touch the back area.
Tucked the cross over on top of the wheel-well.

Well wanted to up grade the sub-woofer. I saw a DYI to make a partition on a thread. I made this unit with a 8'x2' 3/4 MDF I had laying round.
Only down side to this designed, It was for a Z06.

Partition being cut to the Z06 directions.
I used this thread: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...than-20-a.html

I cut the partition down to I could fit the targa in the hatch.
My mock up for the partition and subwoofer setup.

All the seams and ends are glued with liquid nails. All screws have been counter sunk. Woofers hang over 1/8" on each side.

I need to work on my carpentering skills... And a different speaker connector.
I used 3/4 of a bag of Polyester classic fiber fill for both sides.

My Thoughts:
  • Looking to put a few more amps in the car. Soundstream Stealth ST2.1000D. Looking to place then in the XM receive tray so I can remove the PA5.1600
  • Looking for a different head-unit.
  • Upgrade the 8" subwoofers to R3.8
  • I think I need to put tweeter in the door. I have not decide to put them in the pillar or cut the door panel yet.
  • I'm going to go deaf with this sound system..... lol

Cool build! I always liked Soundstream gear back in the 90s...hopefully they are still making quality stuff.
