Has anyone put either of these Alpines into a c5?
would love to see pics and get advice on the install. I already have a single DIN Alpine in my '03, so I would think it would be a straight forward swap.
One other thing with the ILX-F309 is that you wouldn't have to buy a new dash bezel for 300 clams (for a C5). Just use the existing and get the kit to install a single din.
Wow that screen is huge. Looks even bigger installed in vehicle. Very cool. How do you like the head unit overall?
My car is down at the moment for interior and driveline upgrades, but just powering it up and playing with it, it is fast and the screen looks beautiful.

Get the iFX-309 Halos so we can see what it looks like in a C5.
If you like the "floating" look that many high end car manufactures are moving to, you'll definitely like this unit

Wow, that is one big sucker! I really like the looks of it and the larger screen for my middle aged eyes. Any updates on performance after you have had it for awhile? I really like what you have done to the interior also!
Not to pee in your Cheerios but I considered this headunit. I heard the resolution is the same as a normal smaller headunit (which is itself inadequate compared to any other device [or your phone]) so you can actually see the individual pixels, making text look blocky.
Does it have FM radio?
Not completely sold on this “floating” display fad in some cars (Mazda). Looks like an afterthought.
Blocks the center vent too, and access to the HVAC ***** it looks like.
It's not iPad quality, but it looks great in the car and is definetly of high enough resolution for car stereo usage. Google maps satellite view is crystal clear.
I have the F309 in my SUV and it is a big screen. Sadly the resolution is only 480 and not 1080p or even 720p. I'm planning to buy one for my c5 as it's a single din fit. I was hoping Alpine would've came out with a newer model that supports HD resolutions.
