What model do you have? Chances are there is a way to do it. Some just make it more difficult than others. Pioneer makes it real easy and has it in its settings menu for both start-up screen and custom background. Other head units sometimes require you to access a secret menu, but usually some google searches or youtube will show the steps.
So I guess I just need to load up a .jpg? 800 x 840?
never mind I spoke with my buddy is the Art department, he laughed, then asked me what I would like. I'm at n home today but tomorrow I will get him working on something.
I see you're from NJ, I grew up in Paterson, nothing but a hell hole now though.
I try to avoid Paterson if possible. It's not what it use to be but that goes for a lot of towns. My wife grew up in Jersey City, you don't want to go there anymore either.
Hopefully those directions will do the trick for your head unit. Good luck.

Oh yea JC, I worked for Sears when I was a kid, service tech, Dales Avenue Projects, something you never forget.
Yes I just got back from walmart , picked up a stick. Copied 7 images from the AVIC thread and will give the guy at work a crack at changing some colors for me. Thank You for all your Help. Much appreciated.
So one more Post here just because you hooked me up so well. I would not have been able to do this without your Help. My Graphics guy made the Corvette because mine is CRM. He will have to resize it tomorrow because the big yellow word Corvette dropped out, I guess because of the menu bar at the top. In stead of 480 maybe more like 400.
Looks good. Glad I was able to help. Here is a few pictures of mine. I got the background from the Avic picture thread and was also able to add a Corvette start up screen with my Pioneer.
