I have done tons of research on here, YouTube, and various sites.
I thought i had had it down to the Kenwood DMX905S. However, I read about the one guy having problems with it. Granted it was with Android audio and I will be using Car Play. I like that it has 2 camera support and 2 USB. Though I am now thinking those are huge requirements as I can provide another usb charger.
So I am looking for suggestions between these three units. That are in my budget as I am saving up for other things and don’t want to break the bank. Looking for info on their interface and sound quality. Think just a backup camera is fine as I already have a decent dash cam. Would also like to have a custom back ground on the unit. Not sure if they all support that.
So which one would y’all go with :
Kenwood DMX905S
Sony XAV-X5000
Alpine ILX-W650
The pioneer MVH-1400EX is in there too. But like having physical buttons for main functions and it looks like the actual screen is a bit smaller due to the virtual buttons on the left and looks to have a decent size bezel all the way around.
I personally would go with a Pioneer system, I've been buying Pioneer systems for years and have never had an issue with any of them, the only reason I've changed them out is to keep up with technology, I have the AVIC-8200 NEX system in my Vette, very good system with lots of features.
Those are IMO, the top 3 sounding brands for head units. I have an Alpine INE-W960 in my C5 and a Kenwood Excelon DDX395 in my son's car and I can't decide which one I like more. The Kenwood, for the price point blew me away! The Kenwood model you are looking at doesn't have quite as good of reviews for some reason, maybe the android issue? I just heard the Sony model you are looking at the other day at my audio installer's store. Man, it sounded nice, too. I initially purchased a Pioneer Avic 7200 nex for my C5 to pair with a very high end Rockford Fosgate system. I could just never get the dang thing to sound the way I wanted. I finally bit the bullet and bought the Alpine and let's just say night meet day! The Alpine sounded fantastic. The only thing on the model you are looking at, it is really new, so there isn't a lot of info or reviews yet but at least with Alpine you are pretty safe and I think this is model they have put out to compete with the other companies offerings at the lower price point. It could be a great bang for the buck option!!
