My girlfriends 2009 6spd base...need speaker upgrade recommendations please..
I'll be clear....I'm a forced induction, dyno tuning, engine building guy...audio isn't my space...lol. She commutes in her car 75 miles per day and she has a base car (which she loves to death). She likes the audio, versus her old E46 BMW, but says the front door speakers sound a bit shot. I did some searching and found some nice 4" door speakers another user said were outstanding with a little adapter, but what about the rears?
We just did a big cross country relocation and cash is tight this summer, so not looking for big budget upgrades. Just a speaker swap to maybe bring things up to par?
Help is appreciated!

Here is a thread someone started recommending some Polk 522 MM. They are a little pricey. IMO, even most cheaper speakers would be an upgrade over the stock ones.

Depends on how much of an audiophile she is. But, even the entry level line of Focal speakers sound really good.
Side note...wassup Torch?! Been a while.

I used JL audio's in mine. sound great!
the ones that most stay will fit a couple are:
c2-350x (front door upper)
c2-525x (rear)
this will keep the door "subwoofer" in place.
it would be about $300 for all 4 brand new, but may be able to find a deal
then later on you could add an amp and not have to worry about replacing the speakers.
but be careful!!!!! it's addictive hahahaha I was only replacing my head unit and ended up spending $1500+ and I didn't even completely delete the factory system.

None of my girl friends could ever afford a Corvette. I must of been hanging out at the wrong bars.

I'm also doing a JL audio based upgrade, but using a clean-sweep approach incorporating:
* Doors: JL Audio C2650 - 2 piece component speakers, woofer down low and tweeter up top
* Rear: and JL Audio C2-525X 5.25" 2-ways
* Center: Deleted single OEM speaker
* Subwoofer: JL Audio Stealthbox Single 10"
* Headunit: Kenwood Excelon DDX9905S
* Amplifier: 5 Channel Hertz HCP - 50W x 4 + 280W x 1
The plan is for the amp and crossovers to be where the OEM amp is placed.
A full sound-deadening of the car installing both mat and liner on all spaces is also part of the plan.
I'll also likely carbon wrap the center console and other hard dash/door pieces before putting them back in.
I'm 70% done on interior removal with one more day this upcoming weekend and then I'll start the installs.

We're not looking to go big, just a nice upgrade over the worn stock stuff. It still sounds good, but there is certainly better to be had these days. Stock head unit and just a budget upgrade is what I'm looking for. I did look at the JBL's. I'm still trying to confirm the base setup in these cars, in terms of speakers. All my searches has all this conflicting information. It appears it's the same as the C5Z? 3 1/2" with an 8" door sub, then 5 1/4" rears, but it seems C6's have centers in the dash? Can anyone confirm? Looks like the upper door and rears are a simple enough upgrade.
