So thinking axing all the bose speakers and amps.
I already have a nice aftermarket HU. Rear speakers were upgrade and also twiddlers were changes to same band and series as back speakers.
Now I know if I remove the bose sub and install an adapter plate that will hold a 6.5
Yes future would add a separate power sub but too many other bills right now.
Why am I asking the stock bose keeps distorting a lot. I have tried adjusting everything I can with the HU and the REOM. I am thinking the subs are on the way out.
So will just 6.5 in the door would that be plenty of base for now until a power sub can be added?
Just follow my posts..thinking of same thing. Have you adjusted the module pots..if they are up too far it distorts a lot. I used 2 phones..one running a pink noise generator hooked up to radio through aux port..then used the other phone with a tuning APP ..used the spl meter to set the output of each speaker to around 85 db with the HU set 3/4 way up, which is all I ever would turn it. Be very careful turning the bias pots as they strip very easy..have to replace mine already..number #1 channel is stripped and over driving the right front so it starts popping.
A good sounding 6.5 will provide mid-bass...which is not bass. Most 6.5s really start hurting around 70 Hz. Bass frequencies are 20-~100 Hz. So a 6.5 will not provide the bass sound you're after.
Just a start
want to end up with Kenwood DNX996XR..like the adjustable screen for the vert
Focals in the front..maybe nothing in the rear and a sub or 2 in the cubbys
a good 5 channel amp with DSP..and I'm done.
Just ripped all my Bose crap out last night. Installed Pioneer Z series CH65(?) front 6.5 components. Ran all new wiring to the amp behind the waterfall. a 5 channel Rockford Fosgate P1000.X5. Installed a prefabbed box from Ebay and a 12" P2 rockford sub in the trunk area. All runing off a Joying 8 inch android based headunit. It does have a 32 band EQ and TA! It sounds okay. My Pioneer DEH-P960MP sounds way better though, but no BT, apps, camera, etc....
Anyone try removing Bose 100 Watt amp on Front door speakers and use it for their new upgraded 6 1/2" component speakers that end up in the door?
I got some Rockford Fosgate 6 1/2 Component Speakers with Dome Tweeter. I really don't wanna lose the 100 watts that the Bose amp provides and it is already wired into the car. I have a single din flip out Pioneer HU.
The RFT2652-S 6.5" are the TOP Bass rated in their class. My HU is only 50 watts per channel. Yes I could go buy a 1000 watt 5-channel amp, spend $500, take all my panels out wire amp to the battery. Ton of work, yes it would sound better.
I bought some 60 watt RMS Focal speakers for the mid panel, filler sound.
For my stage speakers I believe the 100 watt Bose amp will feed these RF door speakers sufficiently?
Anyone try removing the Bose amp from those **** speakers and try to use the power that is already wired in adding a crossover and a tweeter? I used to build my own systems back in the day. Boxes, crossovers, amps etc. I am trying to keep it clean and as stock as possible. Once we put an amp and a woofer in that is over. Not that I am not wanting the bass. I do. Thoughts?
Only way for it to sound "good" if retaining Bose bits, is to use a highly capable DSP to "undo" all the Bose fuckery. Unless you have pro level tuning gear, Bose needs to go into a trash can and lit on fire.
Alpine makes a small amp that fits behind the head unit..I use it to power my focals in the front..then used the HU to power the back speakers...very simple and didnt require tearing the car apart.
I am really amazed at the stereo equipment most manufacturers put in high end cars and then call them premium systems. They sound like crap even to a novice. They would be better off to give you the option of leaving the stock system out and let you put in a quality system. Just sayin’.
When you advertise premium anything, you need to deliver. They put in 8 to 12 speakers and think that is cool. All they did was put in 8 to 12 crappy speakers and a lousy amplifier.
Evening. Few questions. I've taken out all the Bose equipment, accept the processor and the roemvet1 pac harness. At times, all of the speakers connected to the new app (all 4 Kenwood 6.5s) cut off for a few seconds and come back on. I have checked and rechecked the wires I've ran and checked the wire harness. Nothing seems to be touching metal or other wires. Anyway, All that's left playing are the mids i replaced the twiddlers with to the factory wiring (minus the amps). So that's the only speakers the unit is pushing. The 4 channel Kenwood amp has the rest. The issue doesn't happen all the time. Pinpointing it, is driving me crazy.
I have a Kenwood DMX-4707s. I did notice the harness for it is a little lose since the tab that locks it in, is broken (no idea when that happened). So I have a replacement coming for that.
I saw someone talk about a bypass for the Bose processor, so i'm planning to do that in hopes that it helps my issue. Also, can ditch the Roemvet1 for another more standard adapter since I've taken out most of the Bose stuff? If so, with what? If not, what should I disconnect if anything?
