Yes there is a known bug with the red light. Stamps don't have a decent timer so I decided this was close enough:smash:
This code also only handles one side of the tree.
Stamps can only sink 25ma per input with a max chip rating of 50ma. If this were an industrial design I'd put a driver in the outputs, but since really only one output is on at a time it can directly drive an optocoupled solidstate relay, like one of these opto22's have lying around here, tho I'd bet there's a cheaper way to do it.
PLC's on the other hand can usually be configured to directly drive line voltages no problem or low voltage or TTL if you're so inclined.

So did you write this in pBasic? and if so how do you burn that code into a PIC? Wouldn't the PIC need the basic interperter???
