Just ordered the vettenuts corner box with JL Audio 10W3v3-2. Now I need an amp. Just want to get a mono amp for now. Spoke to Vette nuts and their experience with this sub is that it can't handle 500 watts..300 more like it. Any ideas?
How are you going to mount the amp behind the seat? Be VERY VERY careful doing anything that involves drill there. The fuel tanks are directly behind the waterfall panel. Any holes drilled there and you WILL rupture the tank...
used an old speaker wire that had a pvc coating on it to make a snake to get into the footwell. pulled the power wire through the finished wire. It was just stuffed in there and loose out of the box. not going anywhere now took apart the main fuse an added ferrules to the wire, and techflex covering. everything heat shrinked. 3M VBM double side tape and threaded inserts.
Started on the amp yesterday. Real pain to get the 4 gauge wire through the grommet but figured it out. From there wasn't too hard to get behind the waterfall where the amp will go. Some plywood, double side tape and threaded inserts. Grounded it to the waterfall metal. Now on to the speaker wires and signal wires..then hopefully won't have to touch this again for a while.
Takes a while though..working inside the car is...fun. I almost gave up trying to get the wire through the dash. Took a ride to a stereo shop..and it was closed..which indicated to me..to keep trying.
Just put a JL XD600/1v2 on my 10w3v3-2 and turned the power down a little and the bass sounds terrific. Sharp clean hits you can really feel and it keeps up nicely with very fast bass tempo tunes.
Main positive cable with ferrule and techflex covering Ground with a ferrule and techflex and the speaker wire
Doing these cables the right way is certainly the loooong way. The ferrules are cool and with the right tool they work great. Putting the techflex covering on adds a good amount of time as you have to scootch it on inch by inch..then heat shrink everything. It does look very good when your done though. Next up is pull the radio again and hook up the amp turn on and the signal cable. Then I can get the whole thing tuned up.
