Winter project of installing a Double Din in a 2003 Z06. I remember seeing in a past post a set of metal mounting brackets that appeared to be stronger and fully adjustable. Been searching for a while and only results were for a 2017 Ebay listing that is long gone. Anyone have a current source for them or an equivalent?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I just put a DD in mine. Got everything from Crutchfield. It all worked fine and seems to be very secure. The biggest PITA is removing the two metal brackets that are back in the dash. But when all was done I was very pleased.

I like others have found removing the metal shelves is pretty easy if you use a good drill bit for metal with a right angle attachment. Mine took about 10 minutes to drill out the rivets.

Right angle attachment? Now you tell me. Yes, no doubt that would have mad it a lot easier. I live about 40 miles from town so when I got started and realized those brackets were there I just use a reg straight drill at an angle (which kept sliding off). Did not want to make the 80 mile round trip.

I too have the Crutchfield / Metra kit. Good to hear that installation went well. Ordered the Vettenuts bracket as they seem a bit sturdier and more adjustable. Haven't started the install yet, but I plan on removing the cross support brackets with a Rockwell oscillating tool. It has a offset carbide cutter blade that should be able to flush cut the rivet heads off. Are they really rivets? it looks more like a spot weld??

just had a new kenwood HU put in my C6 which connects my iPhone via USB and already I’m tired of it sliding around. Was thinking about buying the weathertech cup thing but your idea might be better. What is it, how do you like it and where do you get it? Thanks

No need to flush cut the rivets because most head units are narrow enough that they are no issue.
ALSO, consider buying the C series component head unit from Pioneer that may eliminate having to remove the metal shelf. NEX/DMH-C2500NEX
I would have purchased this but it doesn't have wifi connection to iPhone.

Sorry I have not got back with you on this but it is from Proclips (as madsnop said). Works great. You purchase the clip and how you want to mount it on the clip separate. I got the magnet on the clip and a small metal plate on the phone. Very sturdy!!!
