New to me 1989
I just bought a 1989 to replace my 1996. I'd like to use the same stereo in the 1989, but will the 89 be able to fit a double-din? I thought I read somewhere that it just required a little extra trimming on the opening for the original stereo.

For a double DIN stereo you need an opening 4" tall and 7" wide and the depth can vary, but I'd figure at least 6-1/2" is a good number to use, so you can measure the opening on your car, then compare it to these numbers, and take it from there.

Just to document this for myself, it only takes a little bit of trimming to fit the height but the width of the hole is actually about 7.25" so a little ingenuity is required to cover the extra area.

Sounds like it's doable, you could probably get a sheet of ABS plastic such as this https://www.ebay.com/itm/ABS-Plastic...ae45f655d65a74 and cut a frame out of it that your stereo would fit in large enough to cover the gaps on the sides. How's the depth look ?
