Default Current Drain on Battery

Hey everyone... I'm having trouble with my 2005 Corvette Conv., the drain on the battery is at 0.13 amps. By what I've read it should be around .03 amps. It keeps dying on me even if I jump it and drive it for 30+ mins. I make sure all the lights are off when I turn off the car. I have an Optima Red Top for my battery. When I first got my battery it died on me after just a week or two after I installed it only driving once or twice. Any help would be awesome!

Do you have an aftermarket amp, radio, or alarm system?

On a C6, it is usually a bad adapter harness for aftermarket radio. If it's all stock, you'll have to setup your meter and then remove/re-insert each fuse that has a battery (all the time) feed.

I do have both aftermarket amp and radio, but the amp is just recently, and its been acting up before I had it installed. And when I got an aftermarket radio, but I've had that in since 2014ish.

Note to add on to the problem: My batter got too hot to touch when i was charging it and jump-starting it.

electronics go bad. if you don't want to pull your radio and check the harness, start going fuse by fuse until you see a drop in the draw.

I will check that out sometime this weekend. I am going to see if i have a bad cell or something in my battery to see if I can have a battery to start my car. I pulled my OnStar fuse since i don't use it. I'll keep updating this just in case someone else has a problem in the future.

I was going to suggest pulling the OnStar fuse, but I see you did that already. Also, if you have a manual trans, I'm sure you probably already know about leaving the car in reverse when you shut it off. That was a 2005 thing. Also I would suggest posting this in the C6 general section. Only a handful of guys that frequent the audio section on a regular basis. I know the battery drain thing comes up often enough, hopefully someone can help. Good luck.

Also, there are a bunch of threads on it if you do a search. Here is one from more recently. Dano in post #3 suggest pulling fuses and checking the draw at the battery to narrow down the guilty party, but lots of helpful info or suggestions in there.

Don't pull fuses! Use a voltage meter or an amphound to find draw.
You can borrow an amp hound from one of the auto parts retailers.. I don't know which one off hand. I bought one before I knew you can borrow one for free!
