I installed an Alpine ILX-W650 and a backup camera this last weekend, and the backup camera is really jittery when the engine is at idle or low RPM’s. If I turn it on while driving on the freeway or something, it’s rock solid. As soon as I stop to backup, it looks fine for a second and then immediately starts to shake. With the engine off in accessory mode, no shakes as well.
I have the camera grounded directly to the battery as it’s in the trunk and I couldn’t find much other metal around, so I don’t know if that’s the issue or not? Power for the camera is coming from the switched red accessory wire behind the radio, the video line had a power wire on it, so I just used that. There is a relay for the accessory wire on the PAC RP5-GM11. I feel like it’s got to be something simple.
