Hey Forum,
I have a 2010 GS Nav unit with bose, Do i connect the colored wires color to color with the wiring harness to my new aftermarket HU? is there anything special i have to do? New to having to hook up audio equipment so i've been struggling trying to put everything together. any photos or videos would be extremely helpful.
Sorry ! I ended up figuring it all out I was just over thinking things , and dealer sold me the wrong kit so once I got the right kit everything was easy. I usually pay for installs but I quoted 3 weeks until anybody could get me in.
Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and have been reading a lot about replacing my factory radio head unit. I have a 2008 Base with Bose/Navigation and would like to install a new head unit that will keep all of the "factory" functions in the car i.e. chime on speakers, OnStar and SWC. From what I have read, most seem to use the PAC RPM5-GM11 but this unit does not keep the factory chimes, if I read it correctly. Has anyone looked at other PAC units or any of the Metra/Axxess units? There seems to be a lot of different units from each manufacturer and it is a bit dauntiung! Thanks for any help! ( Also, If I'm posting this to a wrong forum, please forgive)

Orange Flash, the Pac RP5-GM11 does retain door chimes. It has a small sound box with a volume dial for door/warning chimes. It's not exactly factory, since the factory chimes went through the factory head unit and speakers, but it replaces and supplies the chimes. The sound box gets buried behind the head unit with the Pac harness, so you will never see it. Also, turn the volume down as low as possible because most complain it's a little too loud.
Thank you for the info! I was hoping to find a unit that would direct to the speakers in the car, but it sounds like that is going to be a no starter...Has the unit been reliable? Thanks!
