i don't really know why these subs get slammed so bad on quality. how much quality can a sub really produce under 80hz which is where most of us run them. the autobahns have a little resonance to them which i'm not really too fond of, if you like high powered metal subs check out alumapros alchemy or the eclipse aluminum or titanium subs {my choice for metal subs} they aren't too much more money & i think they sound better.
I've got an Audiobahn, Sony, and Image Dynamics subwoofer all in similar boxes... there's quite a bit of sound quality difference between the three. IT's not as much SQ difference as say... the difference in sound quality from the mid end JL XR 650 components and high end Utopias, but you can hear the difference. Lots of people don't hear well under 100hz, and really feel the subs more than "hear" them and see less of a difference.
I have the 12" that is brand new. I ended up putting a JLAudio 10W6v2 in my Viper due to space. If your interested, or anyone else email me and I will sell it to you for less than $118 ;)
Well, a friend of mine wanted to compete in a db-Drag so we picked up two Audiobahn 12's and an Infinity beta digital amp, threw them in a 1.2 cubic foot box (each) and drove them with 1000 watts (500 each). 142.9 db!! That was about two years ago when they were trying to make a name for themselves. Both subs cost $140... for the PAIR! Crutchfield was closing the Infinity amps out at $299. Couldn't beat that hook-up!
Now, as stated before, they aren't sound quality subs, the don't really come to life until they are driven with ~200 watts! But if you want to hit hard on a budget, go with them! :yesnod:
