Thanks to all the schematics drawings from all of you guys they helped me install the head unit and sub AMP big time! New speakers/ head unit and rear sub, interfaced with the PAC interface box, now its time for a 4 channel small amp for the door speakers.
But after doing a search I still have a couple of questions.
1. does anyone make a harness to bypass the old amp with inputs on the downstream side for an aftermarket amp?
2. has anyone taken out the factory amp and replaced it in the same location with an aftermarket?
Im sure this has been gone over.... ?? cant find it in a search... I found a few items such as below
I dont mind running speaker wire through the doors but Id rather keep it as factory as possible.
thanks to the guy that originally posted this.

Is this for a C6? There have been a few guys that have installed an aftermarket amp in the stock amp location. I'm not sure what will fit, but I do remember seeing posts on it. A quick search came back with this thread. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...***-d-amp.html
Also, why do you need a harness to bypass the old amp? Is it to not run new speaker wire?
thanks guys I actually saw those two threads before posting. I think Im just going to leave the amp in place and run new speaker wire/ mount new amp behind radio /head unit there is plenty of room now. the head unit is pretty small. by the time i figure out all the wiring and make a bracket to mount the new amp I could be done... not how I wanted to do it but i guess it works.
I made this:
From this:
I realize this is probably outside of most people's skillset if they aren't electronics hobbyists or employed in that area but my father was an ME/EE and so I learned from him very early in life. I threw this together in a little over a day working off an on. I purchased a fried stock amp and cannibalized it, then added some RCA's, bridged the rear channel to run subs, and added some remote outs.
Overall its pretty clean, but not perfect because I used an old BOB I had laying around. This completely replaced the stock amp and allows me to switch between the stock amp and my sub amps. Why? So when the car is sold its not a big deal to put back to stock. Absolutely none of the wires in my harness have been spliced. RCA's are on the other side of the box with the power outs.

I didn't. I tried and couldn't find them so I bought an old fried amp and cannibalized. Money well spent, all 35 bones.
The grey connector, and the one on the back, both came from Digi Key if I recall. I had them laying around left over from a previous project so I just used them. The connector has a lot more pins than I needed, but I had it on hand so I used it.
The break out box came from Megasquirt - also left over from a turbo Miata project I did.

I see what you did now. great idea but, I'm not going to do this. What I wanted was to replace the stock amp with a unit that fits in the same spot, a class D 4 channel. which would just go with the car if I ever sold it. I've decided to just leave the amp and run new speaker wire to the doors from the new amp and mount it in the trunk where I relocated the battery. the other reason I wanted to do this was to keep the factory speaker wires and avoid running new wires through the door wiring tube. By the time I do all this, I could just bite the bullet and run the speaker wire.
Thanks for your help
