Default Yes its another C5 audio upgrade thread....

So I want to keep the Bose head unit but update the speakers.
I have been reading GCG's post on C5 audio and I'm having trouble finding the speakers he speced out as its been a couple of years and I know product lines change.
He recommended
;JBL GX Series 2-way car speakers:
GX302 (3½")
GX502 (5¼")
GX602 (6½")
Just wondering if these will work I think they are the newer line of JBL
CLUB3020 3.5
CLUB5020 5.25
CLUB6520 6.5

and for a coupe the 6.5 inch is for the rear?

Is there a different set of speakers i should be looking at in the same price range?
Thank you

Your best bet now is, go to Crutchfield.com and type in your car info and all the parts you will likely need are at your fingertips. They have most everything and prices are good from a very reputable company. Someone will chime in with specific answers on your questions but it’ll help you to have a head start on what you might want.

So I found the JBLGx628 and 328 that I think will work. Now if I upgrade the speakers now then later upgrade the head unit will the 2.3 Ohm speakers be Ok or should I use 4 Ohm speakers. Also are the Bass Busters recommended with this selection? 600 Hz for rear and 150 hz for front is what I read in another thread.
My goal is simply improved sound.
I really don't want to install a bunch of extra amps and sub boxes. Just don't want to give up the storage space for trips.

The stock head unit is rated at 4 ohms. Not sure if it's stable down to 2.3 ohms. Most aftermarket amps are stable at 2 ohms, so you should consider a micro amp that can be hidden away and not take up valuable space. I'm assuming you are leaving the stock 8 inch woofers and just replacing the front twiddlers and rear full range. Adding Dynamat or your favorite sound deadner to your doors will help with the bass output.

Yes on keeping the Bose subs and yes on sound deadener.
So I ordered the JL GX328 and 628 and bass blockers. Hope it will be enough of a change that I don't need to HU.

150 and 600 hz seem pretty high for me. I would have chosen 100hz for both front and rear.
