Hello, wondering what my best option is. I'm planning to swap out the front bose speakers in my C5 to components. Currently I have an aftermarket HU and the sends signal to a 1 channel amp that powers my sub. I'm curious if I'm better off keeping that amp and adding a smaller 4 maybe 50w/channel to power the components, one channel per speaker, active setup. Or get one more powerful amp to run the components in passive, use the crossover and bridge the rear channels for the sub? I haven't decided on speakers or an amp, obviously because I haven't made my mind up on this decision yet. So I'm open to suggestions. Would like to keep it around $4-500.
It's there much disadvantage going to a 4 channel and bridging the rear channels to the sub? As long as a amp is safe to 2ohms, it's ok to run the front 2 channels to the crossovers at 4 ohms, and rear channels, bridged and at 2 ohms?
Also, if I'm running active, if I get a smaller 4 channel for mids and tweeters. All my control is done through the HU right? Might be fun to play with.

No disadvantage as long as your needs are met. Active means all crossover functions are done before being amplified. An electronic crossover function in the amp, headunit, or in between is needed. Not knowing what you have, I would just ve guessing.

Sounds good. I think I'm just going to go with a dedicated 4 channel for the components. I have an Alpine iLX-W650. And it has a pretty decent interface for sound processing. I'm not just trying to decide if I just get the small alpine amp that fits behind the HU or a regular amp. The alpine is 4x50, which might be on the small side, or do I just go with something more closer to 65-75/channel?
I did check out your stuff you have for sale. Not sure how those 8" mids would work. I'm sure I could make them fit, just worried how they'd sound in my doors without any sound deadening. Although, I do have some rammat and ensolite foam from a previous install.
I had those 8's in ny C5 and they sounded great. I built a plate and had 8", 4" mid, and a surface mount tweeter. Some sound deadening is better than no deadening. I just hooked up my Kenwood amps on my test bench, they sound so good. I've been wanting to restore an old truck or muscle car and put these in there, but that's not working out so good. So time to move on.
I'm a 5 channel fan if you know you're not going to be running huge subs. 100W RMS x 4 channels and typically 250-350W RMS for a sub. Very hard to beat a one amp system with a 5 chan.
