Hell yeah I'll help you tune her brother. Worried about those rear speakers with the integral tweet. Might make things really "bright" in the back. If you've already bought em, no biggie...we'll deal with it.
I thought I was ready to give up some cargo space and carry around some extra weight. Turns out I'm not. Or perhaps I want some stealth and some "style".
Short term "fix"...
After reading some older posts, I decided to upgrade the Bose sub.. FROM:
TO:
Dual 2 ohm voice coil, same as oem.
Hopefully it kicks a bit more. I miss what I had in the C6.
I put it all back together and well, it doesn't sound any worse! I think it will need a separate amp with a bass ****.
Looks like I'm doing the whole thing in a couple of weeks. Still undecided about the cargo area.
Thank you Home Depot. I swear some of these customers dont know about the pandemic that is going on. No PPE or sense of social distancing. Got out ASAP.
I forgot the putty and ran out of black paint; didn't feel like going back out.... but almost done with the box build. No woofer holes yet as I haven't decided how to install the amps. Anyone know where I can find some matching carpet for the C7?
Still trying to figure out the amp placement.
1. Amp rack on top... flat
2. Amp rack on top ... angle view from back
3. Amp rack on top ... angle view from front
4. Amp rack in front of box
5. Amp rack rear of box
6. Amps in rear cubby
7. Amps hidden where factory subwoofer is. (Reduce to two amps)
8. Amps on a false floor... will need to somehow be able to remove to get to all electronic modules GM shoved back there.
This box weighs a ton. I've scrapped it. Going back to birch plywood. And after a bit more research, re-considering the overall size of a ported box. Considering sealed and down firing as Ronin has suggested. Plus looking online at other builds, mine is just plain and boring
I need to make more friends... with skills... how hard can working with fiberglass and bondo be?? JK I know it's a craft... West Coast Customs Continental Tire Stingray. Still room for things. not mine. perhaps too bulky right behind the seat? not mine. no clear and quick access to vehicle modules not mine. Was quoted $5K labor for this. Another shop wouldn't even try it. A nice one for down firing...
not yet. It was late and now family time
Hope to finish it up later today.
If it doesn't work out, I at least found a hiding spot for my amps
oh and about the 8" inch... it's finally broken in and it came alive. Yes, def. better than the stock box. Decided to leave it in a it be my everyday sub. Got another amp for the added subs, those will be on a separate on/off switch.
