Default Best Radar Detector?

I owned Passport 9500ix detectors for over 7 years. They work well, but with all the false alerts out there these days (lane departure, crash avoidance warnings, etc.) the thing constantly alerts. I'm looking for something new. The Uniden R7 looks great, but like my 9500ix can be a little pricey. the R3 looks like a great value and claims great false alert filters, the higher line Escorts and Valentine units claim great filtering as well. All a bit confusing.

Any suggestions?

R3 is the best bang for the buck. I personally prefer the Valentine Gen2 over the R7. The Redline 360c is supposed to be the latest and greatest but most expensive at the moment.

I have an R3 (Corvette) and R7 (F-150 daily). Can't beat either, but if I had to pick I'd say the R7.

Yes unfortunately. I picked up the V1 Gen2 several months ago and have been very happy with it. I’ll keep it in my truck. Just sold my car and ordered a new one. Hopefully theia is out before the new one gets here next year. But won’t hold my breath since they have been silent for months since they didn’t make the 2020 deadline.

Best warning for me has always been the brake lights on the car ahead of me at the top of an overpass.... that being said. The Valentine One G2 is what I am currently using. Paired with the JBV1 app it's seems to do it's job as good as I could expect. Realizing that false alarms are going to happen, but they really do seem to be at a minimum when connected to GPS....

Since the title of the thread is Best...

From reading tons of reviews and tests it seems that the best one you can buy today is probably the Redline 360c (now that firmware updates have it past its release-date issues). Range between the V1 Gen 2, the R7, and the Redline seems to be really close (depending upon what frequency). The V1G2 seems to do a decent amount better in the rear tests for range (although the other 2 do pretty well) if for some reason, range from behind is super important to you. The BSM filtering and anti-falsing seems to be best in the Redline 360C, but the V1G2 seems pretty close IF you run a phone app with it. I know the R7 used to be pretty bad and false a lot, but I've read the new updates make it much better to the point it is pretty strong now. Redline has the GPS auto lockouts (now coming to the R7, and with the V1 with a 3rd parrty phone app).

The real issue though is the Redline is really expensive and you don't seem to get that much for all the extra $$. My personal thought is the R7 is good. If you are willing to run 3rd party phone apps at all times along with your detector, the V1 Gen 2 is seems like a much better value than the Redline 360c. But without the 3rd party phone apps, you lose some functionality. So if you want a "plug and play", seems like R7 if you want to save money, or the Redline 360C if you want fully featured-- one with a better GPS lockouts, better false filtering, easy firmware updates, app compatibility (makes it easier to program and can do waze-style reporting, but not required).

Finally, in case anyone lives in an area that matter, The Redline and V1 Gen 2 seem to be pretty much undetectable to Radar detector detectors. The R7 has mixed results.

Theia seems to have everyone all excited, me included, but with no release date known, no pricing known, might be hard to get even at release date, and may or may not need time to get the "bugs" worked out, I wouldn't be waiting if you need something soon.
