I have a Jensen VX7020 head unit in my C6 Corvette. When I am using the Navigation, I prefer to have the radio off so that only the Nav voice comes up when it is time for it. My problem is I can't figure out how to have the Nav voice on if the radio is off. I tried muting the radio by pushing the on/off button for a short time. That does mute the radio, but also mutes the Nav voice. If I shut the head unit off by holding the on/off button for two seconds or more, then the whole thing shuts down, including Nav. I also tried adjusting the Master and Voice sound levels in the Nav settings, but they are both set to maximum (with the adjustment slider all the way to the right), and that isn't loud enough, and doesn't have anything to do with shutting off the radio anyway. The Nav user manual hasn't helped me on this issue. Can someone advise me how to have a Nav voice without the radio on, and also how to properly adjust the Nav voice level?
Can you select a source that has no input, like AV-2, and still hear your NAV commands?
I tried it by selecting both AV-1 and AV-2, and the radio went silent, so that is a good sign. I will check if I can still hear Nav commands under those conditions next time I take the car out. Thanks!
I was finally able to check out my Nav voice problem. Switching from radio to AV1 does turn off the radio sound, and I still have Nav voice sound, so I am pleased about having Nav voice without the radio on. I also found that if you go into System Settings>Volume, you can adjust the volume bias of the various sources. I used that to increase the volume bias for my Nav, and now the Nav voice is loud enough to be easily heard.
