Finally getting around to updating my blose stereo w/nav in my 2013 coupe. what are the suggested cameras for front and rear? I'm getting the Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX from crutchfield along with the pac/wiring/metra etc... They have a pioneer camera for sale but I've used that camera on another car and not really impressed with it. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either. So what is everyone using for front and rear cameras? would like to keep it around $150 for both, is that reasonable?
also any hints/tips on install for front and rear cameras would be appreciated. No sense in reinventing the wheel.
I do plan on updating the entire system in stages over time. Any suggestions on this appreciated. Should I buy RCA cables to run now?
1. replace the head unit - install front and rear cameras
2. install subwoofer and amp - leaning heavily towards the storage compartment design
3. install new speakers and amp - no ideas yet here
I’m looking at the same option. I’m also thinking about piggybacking a small amp on the top of the head unit to power some low profile subwoofers in the door panels. The pioneer 10.1 floating display only uses a single Din space allowing enough space to add the amp on top of the head unit.
I purchased these two on Amazon. They were around $40 each.
The smaller one is 720P resolution which I'm going to install in the front and the slightly larger one is full 1080p which I'm going to install on the rear.
The picture of the license plate is from a YouTube video that I saw a guy installed the same PixelMan camera on the rear of his C6.
I just had two of the Natika cameras installed as part of the install of a 9 inch Pioneer head unit. What I found is that most of the head units on the market today don't support the AHD signal. Even with the lesser resolution supported by the Pioneer head unit, the cameras have more than enough definition for the purposes of not running into anything when backing up or pulling in. I had my front camera mounted behind a hole drilled in the front plate. The field of view isn't full, but again it's more than enough to keep me from driving into a curb stop. I'd be interested to hear if your head unit supports the AHD signal.

According to the specifications on Crutchfield's website it says "high-definition (1280x720 pixels) display"
So hopefully that's the AHD capable.
I'm glad you told me about your cameras because I read and watched some YouTube videos and they say that's a pretty good little camera for the price.
One of the other forum members said not to waste my money on a Kenwood branded camera when you can get an off-brand with the same or better resolution.
Since that camera so small I may end up sending back the PixelMan camera and getting another one of the Natika ones!
I'm going to hook it up to a monitor I have here and a 12 volt drone battery and check out the Natika before I install it. I played around with the PixelMan camera that seem to have good resolution but it's definitely larger.
Appreciate the info!
👍😊
I found that having lines on the camera image is really key to confident parking. A lot of the head units will provide them on the rear camera image but not on the front image. When I was looking not many had them already included on the camera. I finally found one and I think it was a Clarion camera, for the front

I read more of the specifications and this is what it said:
6.75" Electrostatic Capacitive Touchscreen: The Kenwood DNX996XR features an all-new electrostatic capacitive touch panel and high-definition LCD panel with high luminance white LED backlighting that delivers vivid color, high-contrast, and crisp detail, as well as highly responsive touch operation. This 6.75" widescreen (16:9) electrostatic capacitive touchscreen LCD panel has a high resolution of 1280 (H) x 720 (V) x RGB with 2,764,800 total pixels, a 170° high viewing angle, 600cd/m high brightness, and 900:1 high contrast ratio.https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DNX...-DNX996XR.html
So hopefully it's AHD. 😂

Excellent!
Thank you for the info!
Neither my daily driver or my C6 have any cameras now so the only time I've used those cameras is when I've had a rent car traveling. 😂
I'll check out that Clarion camera!
Good thing about buying all these accessories at Amazon you can always send them back! 👍😁

I wouldn't get your hopes up on the AHD support. My research - and the Natika instructions - specifically call out both Pioneer and Kenwood as not supporting AHD video. I took a look at the the specs for the Kenwood in the manual and on page 126 it identifies the color system of the camera input as NTSC which is an analog format and not digital. As I found out, the 720p resolution doesn't equate to being able to get an HD image from a camera. And attaching the camera to a system other than the head unit really isn't going to be a good indicator as the acceptable video formats are probably vastly different.
