All aftermarket car audio head units are rated for 4ohm speakers.. becauss 99% of car audio speakers are.. 4ohm... not including subs.

It would work with 8 ohm speakers as well, but you will have less power available. Going higher in impedance for a speaker normally doesn't pose a problem, although you are getting less power. (Ohms law)
If on the other hand, you go down in impendance, you might fry your amplifier....

Just dont hook it up to those 1ohm bose speakers and you'll be OK.

There's very few full range speaker sets that run in 2ohm... The ID Chameleon is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

Home is 8 ohm, car 4 ohm. Many amps home and car can go down to 1 ohm and even lower. For your deck, stick with 4 ohm and use very efficient speakers like coax. Look for speakers with a minimum power rating around 10w or so. ex. Boston Acoustics RX series http://www.bostonacoustics.com and http://www.tms-electronics.com
