Using one JL Stealth speaker
My vert came with a quality audio system.
Included was a pair of JL Stealth speakers.
However, the huge base sub woofers are much too much for us.
I was going to sell the pair.
Now I am looking at just using one of the speakers and possibly selling the other.
My amp has a mono sub woofer output.
Has anyone tried just using one speaker behind a seat in a convertible?

If it's to much for you, can't you just turn down the bass on your head unit or your amp ?
Are these the ones that fit in the corner cubbies? Yes, if your amp can be mono, then should not be a problem running one sub. Post the amp model and the sub model to make sure watts and ohms are compatible....
The amp is a JL 500/3v2.
The speakers fit behind the seats under the tonneau cover.
Well looking at your amp, it looks like it has a jack for a remote to adjust the bass level (see picture). Do you have the remote connected to it ? Also like I mentioned before, you should be able to adjust the subwoofer levels in the settings of your head unit.
Hooking up one speaker will put the amp at 180 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms instead of 300W. So extra bonus to being able to lower the bass output that you are seeking.

The head unit is an Alpine ilx 650.
The complete system iis the Alpine, the amp, JL speakers in the doors
and the NL crossovers that control them.
The interface is the PAC Rp-5 - 11

Tried adjusting the subs from the Ilx 650. Did not notice too much of a difference.
With the JL XR 650 crossovers handling each door tweeter and woofer, there isn’t really a rear
balance/volume control. The speakers in the dash aren’t used.
Another complication is the wind restrictor that sits in he front of the speakers. I am pretty sure that
doesn’t help the sound distribution.
That is one of the reasons I am looking at only using one stealth speaker.
Any advice would be helpful.
