CB Radios
Any one on the forum have experience with hand held CB radios. I have several vehicles and dont want one in each vehicle. The main use will be on club road rallies to keep informed with other club members. Any input/advice is appreciated. TIA! :seeya

The popular trend is for FRS radios... better range, signal, and security.
Motorola makes some nice ones in the $70-$100.00 range
don't get the cheapos... they ain't worth the $$... $40.00 for a pair? ya. right.

I have used CB radios a lot in other vehicles although I've never put one in the 'Vette. (I have thought about it though) Mostly I have one just because it's fun to listen to all of the truckers driving through town. And it's not much money for a little bit of fun.

I recently bought this Cobra 75WXST hand held unit, It is very good and at a great price. You can also buy an additional connector box for your other car then use the CB in both cars. I use an antenna converter which converts the radio antenna to a CB antenna, This antenna set up doesn't work very well for long ranges but works great for closer ranges. here is a link if it works http://www.electronicsoutpost.com/75wxst.htm

Hey Bogus.....what is a FRS radio?? Is it a hard mounted unit or a portable plug in and play unit? I'm assuming it's not a "cb" radio? I've also been wanting to get something to use on a long haul.
