Default Running the Alpine 7998

I had a car audio shop tell me that to run this headunit not only do you have to run an amp to it but also you have to change out your door speakers. Is this true??

thanks

They are correct. Just to let you know, I spent a little bit of money upgrading and tossing the entire Bose system. Wow, does it sound killer. I also have the Alpine 7998.

You see, the Bose systems are self amplified. At each speaker.

That is the problem.

The 7998 is a non powered head, hence, the requirement of an amp.

so yes, you have to have new speakers.

consider Boston Acoustic, CDT or Focal.
