Default Amp wiring

Let me start my saying sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. I didn't see a section for audio.

I need help with amp wiring. I've run the cable but, the stock battery is kinda a bia. The bolt the connects to the batter won't let me fit the power wire onto it. With the power wire on, the bolt isn't long enough to screw it into the battery. Could I just screw it into the fuse panel without damaging anything?

Stock battery post

Fuse panel positive post that runs directly to the battery wiring

I assume if you're doing an amp, you're also doing other work on the audio. Do yourself a favor, get a fused distribution block for the ground and for the power -- put it behind the seats, easy access to clean ground.

got it. If you need help, this is the place. We have an audio subsection, with a stick on everything you you'll run into -- speaker size, wiring, etc. you're going down a very well-trod path.

There is nothing wrong at all with coming off the battery connection at the fuse block. as it comes directly off the battery. Just make sure you have the appropriate fuse rated for the amp less than 18” from the connection on the amps + wire to the power source to ensure proper protection for your amp and car, failure to properly protect the circuit can cause you to burn your car down should there be a short. It would also be helpful if you tell us the year/model of the car you have in your question, so we know what you’re dealing with. As far as the ground for your amp, ideally you want to ground it as close to the amp as possible.

if it's one amp, sure. I prefer to do a distirbution block for aesthetics, and to minimize long runs from the engine bay to the cabin to avoid ground loops/alternator whine.

Ayeee thank you! I didn't think there would be but wanted to get opinions.

I definitely have it fused within about 10 inches. It's a 2001 C5 coupe. I will also be grounding it as close as I can. I haven't picked out a spot yet but I like to keep it around 3 feet
