I have a 2013 base vert with the bose and nav. Everything is 100% stock still. When I'm playing a CD or a USB thumb drive (either one with MP3s) the sound is clear and crisp. If I listen to just about ANY XM station (rock, r&b, country, metal) the sound is boomy and the drivers door woofer sounds horrible even with the bass and mid turned as low as it will go. Does not sound like the woofer is blown just sounds like a ruler tapping on a desk with each hit of bass. While a stereo upgrade is in my future plans it's not in the budget just now. Suggestions on what to look at? Like I said with any other source other than FM or XM sound is fine, FM & XM are horrible regardless of tone settings or station.
The lower door woofers have a known issue. Seems to happen often on the 2012-13 model years. Water gets in the door and on the woofer causing the cone to separate from the frame. My guess is you are having the same issue. You can buy oem replacement door woofer on RockAuto.com for roughly $100.

That makes no sense. If that was the problem it would sound horrible across all sources, not just FM and XM.

It's up to the OP to trouble shoot. I'm just letting him know that there is an inherent problem with the door woofers that might be causing his issue. The problem could be more apparent on certain sources depending on the audio settings for each source, so I figured it was worth mentioning.

After playing with the settings and adjusting the fader and balance i think it may be a combination of settings making it more apparent with broadcast music. I am going to pull the door panel off after Thanksgiving and see if i find anything abnormal.
This may not be your issue but on my both of my C6 the black plastic strip that holds the external weatherstripping window seal gets brittle and begins to rattle (more like a buzz) against the door. Try putting your finger on the weatherstripping in various places. I fixed it by removing the door liner and putting a thin line of adhesive down the door and sliding the weatherstripping back on. CAUTION, the clips that hold the door liner on are fragile and crispy, recommend you buy a few spares first.
