Default HELP me!!! Question about accessory plug

I went to add an LED light to my car via the accessory plug. I did a quick hookup last night and it worked fine. I went to wire it all up this morning and the 12v line (orange) touched metal and caused a little spark. Now it doesnt work. What have i done. I put a different fuse (same size) in the accessory plug fuse and that didnt work. Everything else in the car works fine. How can I get this to work again. I feel like an idiot. If its not the fuse , then what is it?? HELLPPPPP

ok-- the fuse is not blown-- its in great shape.
However, I have no power in the 12v line-- tried another led to make sure it wasnt the light or my wiring. So I have no power in the 12v line-- and the fuse is good. What the heck do i do now?? HElp i am lost.

I'm working off memory here, so bare with me. I know I have blown that fuse before myself. Is the orange wire the constant 12volt, or is it the switched 12volt power?

Here are 2 suggestions. Check the owners manual. You may be looking at the wrong fuse. Its possible there is one under the hood that is blown, along with or instead of what you are looking for to be the accessory fuse.

Also, check to see if your cig lighter works in the ash tray as well as in the center consol. I don't know for sure, but both of those have constant 12volt power to them, and they could be related. Check the fuses for them as well, it might restore power to the wiring you are using.

Good luck.

Typical LED's require only around 2v to illuminate and your applying 12-14 volts. You need a current control resistor in series with the LED. An 820 ohm 1/4 watt resistor will do the trick. This assumes a 13.8v battery voltage and programming it to a little less than 15mA.

All that is mut unless you actually have a true 12v led, at that point fuse is probably the problem
