I am looking at buying a 12 disc from another forum member. His intentions were to sell the wire harness once it was removed; unfortunately it was integrated with other wires. I have been given 3 different numbers from the dealers for wire harnesses. 1 that goes to a 12 disc for 99 and up, 1 that goes for 10 disc for 97 - 98 and 1 that will plug into the 12 disc but just has leads. They expressed that the 12-disc changer came with integrated w/h and the ones that didn't come per-installed came with a 10 disc. I have not checked to see if mine is pre-wired or not. I am trying to see what others have done to install changers into a 97 coupe. I am sure that the dealers are making this situation more complicated that it is. Your help is appreciated.
Re: C5 CD changer harness information needed (maverickks)
Also, check for a interface cable from USA Spec. They provide many factory changer upgrades to cars without a changer. I would give you the website, but I can't get into it at work, just search for USA spec.
Re: C5 CD changer harness information needed (MAPAZO)
After a vast amount of research I have found out the 12 disk changer is compatible with my cassette player. I have found that p/n 12491182 wire harness will work for the change and car. I can purchase it from Fichtner Chevrolet for 47.03 plus s/h. I received the changer this weekend and hope to have the w/h sometime this week or next and will let everyone know how it comes out. I have done a quick look and found the 4-pin plug but now need to find the 3-socket plug. Thank you to everyone for all the help and advise.
