Default Stereo upgrade

I inherited a 2005 C6 and am looking to upgrade stereo. I like the idea of adding a rear camera, definitely want ApplePlay option, and would like a usb port. No idea where to begin or what to expect by means of budget. I don’t use the cd/dvd player or XM radio but would like to have navigation (though this not a deal breaker as long as ApplePlay works). Any suggestions? Will I need to upgrade other aspects of the sound system?

Go to crutchfield.com, enter your vehicle info and your desired features and you'll have plenty of recommendations along with exact parts needed.
kenwood, alpine, Pioneer are most popular on this forum.

Don’t cheap out on a system, buy a quality brand name system such as Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine etc. Keep in mind there’ll be additional costs for a interface, trim plate, camera etc. The moist commonly used interface used on this forum is the PAC RP5-GM11, but depending on which head unit you go with others are also available. Like Vince mentioned Crutchfeild is a good place to start, however they’re not always correct on what’ll fit and what won’t, I suggest if you find a system that you like, but Crutchfeild says it doesn’t fit, you come back here and ask if anyones installed that particular model. With few exceptions, pretty much any double DIN units will fit.

Upgrading to an aftermarket system in my opinion, is a must do modification to these cars, because the stock systems are so outdated. Not only will you have better sound, but the added features also, so you’ll be glad you did it.

Most of the Double Din units have you want. I'm pleased with the Kenwood DNR 476. Does not play discs, but has USB and an SD card (1000+ songs on that) and wired carplay.

I am interested in this thread myself as I just bought a 2006 C6 this past April and want to upgrade myself.
Good luck with your search and if I find anything of interest I'll post it
