OK, I bought a used JL Stealth Box from a forum member. I physically installed it but never actually powered it up. Due to the complexity of the Bose system and the cost associated with ripping out and installing the whole system I originally decided to wait until I could afford the whole job at once. I am wondering how much sense would it make to do everything in stages? I am thinking about Purchasing a JL 500/5 to power the stealthbox for the Summer. I figure that by Christmas I could finish off the job by replacing the speakers and head unit. The shop doesn't charge me for installation if I buy my equipment from them so I should be OK. What I am worried about is the cost of the extra equipment associated in getting non Bose equipment to work with the stock stereo. I am also worried about the risk associated with ripping my car apart twice. Does the installation of a new amp require alot panels being removed and wires being run or is it a rather straight forward and simple job? Thanks for any help I get with this problem.
Yes it a pain in the azz to put anything into the car. Most times seats have to come out to do it right. Notice I said right no just to get it done. I would map out the ENTIRE system first them have it done all in one shot. If you letting someone else F*** with your car then one time is a charm, any more your risking unpredicatable incidents by panel snaps breaking, scratched components and god know whatever else could go wrong. Make up you mind then do it all on time, you are better off that way.

Re: Does this make sense (knesbitt)
If you can't do the work yourself and need a shop to do it then it would be best to just let them do it once. You can save up your money till then so you will have enough cash to do the whole shebang at once. That is IF you have a shop do the work.
