If you have the factory alternator, then the cable to the battery is the correct size already.

You simply run power wire from positive battery post...(see image below).

Then you run that wire to your alt...(see image below).

Don't forget to fuse about half way with an ANL fuse rated at the alt output...(see image below).

Also ground from negative battery post to chassis and from engine block to chassis. Make sure your ground wire is at least the same size or larger than your power wire.

I used pics of my C4 Big-3 wires since I don't yet have pics of the C5's. Hope this helps. :seeya

Don't mess with the stock electrical system wires. Just add all new wiring to it. No smaller than 4-gauge. If you look at my pictures above you will see where the wires run to, it's the same on a C4 as it is on a C5. Just in the C5 the battery is on the passenger side of the car making it a longer run to the alt. You can ground anywhere on the frame you want, you don't have to jack the car up or anything. The shorter the ground runs the better.

That is a dual ANL fuse block. 1 from alt to batt and another one from batt to CAP.

Your alt is rated at 110 amps. Just get an ANL fuse and holder from any car audio shop.

Yes his is fused and don't listen to that guy at the car audio shop if he says you don't need to fuse the alt to battery wire. You definitely want to fuse it. Mike's setup looks really good; the only thing I would add is loom conduit over the wire to help protect the wire from the engine heat (optional) and possibly another ANL fuse closer to the alt since his current fuse is right at the battery. The only reason I say that is because the alt to battery run is quite lengthy in a C5.

ok guys. i got the alt fuse block and fuse rated at 140 amps for the new alt. im gonna run 4gauge from the alt to the batt so i fuse this half way to the batt and not right nere the batt? im gonna run 0/1 gauge from the battery to the rear of the car to the distrabution block. also ill run a new grd from batt to frame with the 0/1 gauge. also when i run the grounds from the amps can i run the grd amp to amp then to a grding point instead of running all single grds to 1 point?

:nono: don't run 4ga from your alt to the batt... use 1/0ga like you're doing for everything else

:withstupid: I'm using 1/0 ga Stinger Expert Series.
I actually still have the same wire left which is the same lenght as I used in my vert with 2 connetion rings.
Let me know if you wanna buy them !!!

You can read my other post to one of your threads http://<a href="http://forums.corvet...95#5444495</a> about why I suggest using two ANL fuses between the alt and battery on a C5.

Running 4-gauge wire between alt and battery will actually be ok since you are running 1/0-gauge for ground from battery to frame, just don't forget to also run a ground wire from frame to engine block too. Others will say to run the larger wire between alt and battery which is good too, that just gives you even more headroom, and that's always a good thing. Remember, you will also have your stock wiring in place too. :yesnod:

im gonna run 0/1 gauge from the battery to the rear of the car to the distrabution block.
 Make sure it's a fused distro block.

also ill run a new grd from batt to frame with the 0/1 gauge.
Again, remember to run ground from frame to engine block also.

also when i run the grounds from the amps can i run the grd amp to amp then to a grding point instead of running all single grds to 1 point?
No, don't run ground from amp to amp, ground to a common point. The easiest way to do this is with a non-fused distro block. Simply run the ground from each amp to the distro block, then use 1/0-gauge ground (since you are using 1/0-gauge for power) and run it to your ground point on the frame.
