Hey all, I keep seeing people saying you can fit 6x9s in the rear and 5.25s in the front. I'm not quite sure how that's possible as on my 1994 Vette with bose gold system, the mounts quite clearly only fit a 6.5 in the rear and a 4 inch with a small tweeter next to it in the front. Can someone enlighten me on how to upsize the speakers? With the 4 incher in the front, it gets completely drowned out by the 6.5 in the rear and I can't hear it at all. Does anyone have a speaker to recommend for replacement of both? The audio in the current fosegate p1650 has the bass super muddy and the highs really sharp. Could this be due to underpowering (only 10 watts from head unit and requires 55)? I plan to amp both the fronts and rears soon but should I replace the speakers also or just start with an amp and see how it sounds?
I had 6.5s and 4s in my boxes before with 8s in the back. Now I have just 6.5s.
Speaker location in the C4 isn't great. You do need to put a slot of power into the front and low pass the rear IMO. My front speakers get ~150W RMS off their amp now.
