Well after ANOTHER 3 weeks, I got my head unit back working just fine. The repair shop originally told me it was going to take 5 days to fix. 2 weeks went by (brought it in on the 14th of Feb  ) and I decided to find out what's going on. They gave me the runaround for another week and finally got a hold of the owner of the store today and got it done today. Apparently, they had it on the wrong shelf just sitting there. :mad Of course, they didn't give me any discount or anything for wasting my time.
So I brought it into the audio place and immediately had it benched. It works fine. I'm gonna bring it in again on Thur and have them bench it AGAIN while they work on the trim to install it. Just in case. Also gonna have them test all the wiring and everything prior to installation as well as test one of their own HU's. I don't wanna throw in my HU until I know another is gonna work in there with no problems.
Question is, if the head unit blows again, should I make them pay for the repairs? I figure they should because they completely replaced the whole system (wiring and all) and their guys are installing it. And since we know it works before they put it in, the only thing that could happen would be their fault, right? What are your opinions on this situation? Last repair cost me $80 and 3 weeks of my time. I think they should cover it.
That's interesting. But how can could defend that? If both work on the bench, and theirs works in the car but not mine, how could they be in the clear? Shouldn't they have familirized themselves with the instructions of the box or from the Pioneer's website (they sell a lot of Pioneer) so that no problems in wiring would occur?
Well, I'm getting closer. It powered up in the car this time but now has no display. :mad I don't understand it and neither does the techy. We benched it just fine and even completely replaced all the wiring in the car. What could be going on here?
I guess I'll find out tomorrow afternoon when I get it back.
