Default High and Low Pass Inputs on Amplifier.

Ok. Except for a few odds and ends I am finally done with my installation. It sounds pretty good but I now want to know how to get the most out of my setup. I own two old Sound Stream Amp (Circa 97'). One is a Soundtream 300sx, which is used to drive Stealthbox and the other is a Soundstream USA 364 which is used to power my CDT Classic Components in the front. The USA 364 is a 4 channel but I only have the fronts playing. The head unit is a Pioneer Premier 8500MP with all kinds of sound staging features. It has a feature named HPF and LPF, which I assume is High Pass Filter and Low Pass Filter. My USA 364 and 300sx have HPF and LPF inputs. I would assume the HPF and LPF is to help separate different frequencies from different speakers, like a crossover. How do I get my HU and Amps to utilize the features?

I realize the manual explains some of this, but it is all written in charts and graphs that I am having a hard time utilizing for my purposes. If there is anyone out there that is familiar with the art of tweaking please help. Thanks.

Are the HPF and LPF labels on your amps located above some switches? If so it is telling you amp to filter the sound it outputs accordingly. For example, LPF will only allow the amp to produce Low Frequency sounds and vice versa. Put the amp running Highs and Mids to HPF and amp running subs to LPF. You can adjust the frequency cutoffs with the crossover that is built into the amp. That is what I think you are asked....HOWEVER,
There is also a Line level input, (RCA cables), and there is a High Pass input, (speaker level input from the headunit). this is the only other thing I could imagine you are talking about.

The HPF and LPF is the crossover. From what you are saying it sounds like you have built-in crossovers on your amps as well as your headunit. between the headunit and the amps, pick whichever has the most adjustability and use it. Do not try to use the crossover on both. I do not know anything about your headunit but it sounds like it has a lot mor functionality in it's crossover than the amps. I would use it. I have the CDT CL61 Components and I have the HPF on those set at 80Hz and up. My sub is set for everything below. Mine sounds really good this way. You can use those settings for a starting point and then adjust to what sounds best to you.

Good luck
