Do I need a bigger AMP?
I installed a single MTX 10" sub with a 250W MTX amp. To get the sound I want I have the gain set pretty high [too high in my opinion]. It's about 85-90%.
Does this mean my amp is too small and I need to buy a bigger amp?
I called the guy that I bought the amp from [Traffic Jamz in Haltom City], and the guy was kind of a jerk.
I wired the system into the preamp output from the head unit. He told me that was wrong and that I should have wired from the front speakers using a line output converter. I did numerous searches here and read that doing it from the preamp is correct, and that if I wire into the speakers I will run into a problem as the Bose uses a 1K crossover.
I am not a car stereo expert. Should I buy a bigger amp, or is the stereo guy right, and I need to rewire my setup [again]?

I would get a better sub. At the risk of offending people... mtx subs are um... not good.
as far as your gain goes... i wouldnt worry about it being that high. it depends on the signal coming in. my arc2050 is at 95%.

250watts will sound nice on it, although it can take 2x that sealed.
