I've been having voltage probs on my 2001 C5 vert, I had it before I installed an aftermarket stereo, but figurered the cause was the car was a showroom car that sat for months, (during our Canadian winters) before I had purchased it. But during storage this year my car has died twice in 1 month and I had to charge the car both times. About a week ago I took it back to the stereo place and they had mentioned that had no flaw in the parts, install, etc... (keeping in mind they are a highly reputable business). The guy there suggested me that there was 2 scenarios 1) being my batterey, which I can live with having to replace outta my own pocket, the other was 2) my altenator was shot, which means I am nervous cause I feel that my dealership will just point the flaw being my stereo causing it , thus voiding my warranty of it being covered, even though this prob existed before I had the stereo installed! Basically has anyone had this happen? and what are my chances of them blaming my stereo in order that it will not be covered under warranty?

Re: Am I outta luck? (BluRagKid01)
If it is the alt then yes, the dealer will blame it on your system and you are screwed. I'm sure you will most likely have to purchase a new alt on your own. Bummer

If your still running the original battery, chuck it it's probably screwed. :smash: However if you've already replaced the battery you or someone who is capable, will need to do a leak check to see if any devices or equipment are slowly draing off your battery charge.
Good luck
