I am going to use a 10" sub in the rear storage area of my c4, behind the passanger seat. I am chooseing between a Jl audio 10w3 v1 and a kicker solo baric L7 10. Which do you think is better? I am powering it useing my sub channel on my alpine mrv-f450. About 150 watts I want it to hit hard, and have clean sound also
W3 will sound better... the l7 will pound better... 150watts is just a splash of power to either sub though. Without a horn loaded enclosure or clever port job, 150watts won't hit hard.

:withstupid: The L7 is much more of an SPL sub and even though they say it can be used in a sealed enclosure, it performs better in a ported enclosure. You likely won't have enough room (or enough power) for an L7 ported box. I like the Kicker L5 much better. Still really a SPL sub so it hits hard, and performs well in a sealed enslosure. I'm running 3 of them with over 400 watts a piece. I had 3 JL Audio 10w3-v2s and it is no contest, the Kickers pound wayyyyy harder than the JLs. The JL only has a slight edge on SQ in a small sealed enclosure compared with the Kickers IMO. You just need to feed them enough juice.
I veheard those before and wasnt too impresed. my amp has 200 watts at 4ohms. SWo i looked at the kicker and jl website and it should be alright. but I put down two layers of dyna mat inside the storage bin and then extreme liner and did the mdf board ontop sealed with rubber weatherstriping and silicone. Does anyone know about the cubic airspace of that bin? Since I already have the Jl i think i will put it in and see what it sounds like then if I am not happy just make then cut out rectangular and try the kicker.

The L7 definitely needs a lot more power than you are looking to give it. The L7 cones are very stiff & heavy and the magnet is huge. The L7s are designed to handle punishing levels of power and you do not have much bass power at all. If you plan to use the F450 for sub power than you would be better off with a more efficient driver like a Alpine Type-S or a Kicker Comp. Try to match the sub to your AMP's power. It is better to overpower slightly than it is to underpower the driver.

Sounds like a plan. A square sub will fit into a round hole, but not the othe way around. I was able to get .83 ft^3 of internal volume in my stealthbox.
Per kicker recommendations, I filled it 50% will polyfill as well.

Re: Which sub? (leolufse)
There is no way he has enough clean power to properly drive an L7. I have a pair of 10" 2-ohm DVC L5s powered by an Alpine MRD-M500 (584x1 @ 2-ohms) and my L5s are underpowered. The L7 will be way underpowered if driven by the sub section of an MRV-F450. The L7 should be getting about 500 watts of clean power.
