Hook up MTX 1501D, Vette go :P
First, my 4 channel wouldn't power. Unhooked the remote lead from the 1501D and BING! Found out why: the remote lead is at 8.9-ish volts with just the 4 channel. It goes to 8.3 with the 1501D also hooked up. I guess I'm having too much of a voltage drop on the remote turn-on circuit. Got the answer though - when pulling out the old crap, I got an extra relay. :) I'll just use that with the remote lead switching always-on power.
NEXT - hooking up the volt meter to the pos and neg power leads with the 4 channel off and the 1501D off, I get 10.9-ish volts. Turn on the 1501D, and :U it levels out at 9.3 volts. Turn-on drops to *8.0* volts! I saw a picture posted on termpro.com of an internal shot of the 1501D, and it's got some beefy caps inside it, so that might explain the inital volt drop...
Argh, in for a penny, in for about $1.5k... :p:
I guess I'll try replacing my battery next. Wally-mart has their top-grade batteries for $70 with a 5 year warranty, with better CCA / CA than the red top Optimas.
I also need to get some 0-gauge wire. It's got 4-gauge (I know! I know!) because the amp is running a 4-ohm load (makes max at 2 ohm) and I am keeping the gains way down, plus I didn't want to re-run 0-gauge with that costing at least $3.50-$5 a foot, if I didn't need it. But don't worry, I'll replace that soon now that I know. The 4-gauge was when I was running only the 4-channel amp.
At least the alternator seems OK for now, and I won't be running full-boogie on the amps daily anyway. :)

Well, that and the 10 amp charger... Without it it woud cut out on almost any bass note... I really need a new battery.
But, it works, and I'm pleased with the results of the stereo gear at least!
