I just got a 2001 Vette a few weeks ago and it did not have a CD changer in it. The Vette came with a Radio/Tape Bose speakers unit. I did find the cable for the changer in the back. Now I would like to install a CD Changer. Question is, If I buy a changer is their a adapter that plug into the stock plug that plug into the new changer to make it work on the Vette?
Or am I stuck with only going to GM. I looked at a Kenwood, Pioneer and other Cd Changer units at a much better price.
:banghead:
buy a used one of someone who replaced their system, sold my Bose changer last year for $200 here on the forum. Just post an ad in the parts wanted section.
If *I* didn't have a CD changer in my C5, THEN unless it absolutely HAS to be 'stock'/OEM, I would lean towards installing an aftermarket changer with a MP3 decoder.
I recently (about 4-6 weeks ago) had a Sony 10CD Changer with MP3 decoder (with wired and wireless remote; plays back through an FM radio frequency channel) in my daily driver (a 1997 Grand Prix GTP) and am (overall) quite happy with it.
With an MP3 capable changer such as this, I can load it up with approx. 1500 to 2000! Tracks (150-200 per physical CD) and have listen to 100 or so hours of music before having to repeat.
MUCH cheaper (I STRONGLY suspect) also - I paid only $300.00 Canadian (plus Sales Taxes) for the unit, installation INCLUDED (plus $25.00 for a couple of adapters) so I would imagine that in the U.S. you should be able to get it done for $250.00 or so.
