I’ve removed the rear Bose units and replacing with 6x9’s. They will fit the Bose plastic housing OK, I was just wondering if I should fill up the cavity with deadening material or leave it empty ?
In general, enclosures do better with some damping. By 'sound deadening material' I assume you mean fiberglass or something similar? Also, such material will tend to make the enclosure 'look' larger to the speaker. Try it.
Thanks yeagerda, I was beginning to think my question was too hard to answer !
Meanwhile I have fitted the speakers using the existing enclosure and front cover. I didn’t put any material in as there wasn’t any before. Now I’ll wait and see what happens – resonance etc - before perhaps putting in some stuff in.
