Default IDMAX installed... Well..

The Sub: IDMAX 12" D2 V.3
The Amp: ARC2050 Bridged. 230x1 @4ohm. (I'm not kidding.)
The Box: 1.3ft^3 after displacement.

Amp explanation: I'm using the 230 watt amp for a few reasons:
1) Budget. I couldn't get both the MAX and the new amp at the same time.
2) Break in period. Some people believe in this, some don't. ID asks you
to break the sub in gently. I will do this just to err on the side of
caution.

In the future, I will get an ~800 watt amp for it. No larger, because I
don't want to run 0 gauge, and I don't want to upgrade my electrical
system.

Sound Quality:
Simply put... This is the best sounding sub I have ever heard. The only
subs I've heard long term is the IDQ10, the CDTMS80, and the Audiobahn
AWP210. IE: The only subs I've ran. I can say it slaughters the subwoofers
I've heard on racks at stores... and it does... but I have not had a lot
of exposure to them, nor have I heard them in my vehicle.

Response:
Rapid machine-gun-fire like drum beats (IE: Old Metallica, Dyers Eve.
MudVayne, DIG.) don't blend together at all. They are QUITE punctuated.
Easily as punctuated as my 8" CDT subwoofers. A little better than my
IDQ10. Significantly better than the blurry sounding Audiobahn.

Low End:
Again, compared to the lesser subs I've ran before, there is no contest.
this sub does not provide gut wrenching low end, but more than the other
(smaller displacement) subs. Consider two things. 1: I'm running 230
watts. 2: I'm running a sealed box.

Efficiency:
Incredible. I didn't know 230 watts in a sealed box could be this loud.
The cone moves like crazy with that low amount of power. Honestly, it's
loud enough that I'm satisfied. It gets louder than I need it to for a
perfect harmony with my front stage (CDT HD52.) But of course I'll get a
big amp anyway. It's all about what it CAN do.

Quality/Appearance:
It is a beautiful sub. The basket is great. I don't really like ID's logo,
but the cone looks great anyway. The "parabolic curve" looks neat. The
construction appears flawless. IDMAX does get a mark against it, though.
My first one was defective and made weird noises. (loose Spider maybe??)

Value:
I payed $400 from an authorized dealer. This is less than MSRP, I haven't
heard many similarly priced subs. My experience with the W7 is very very
limited, although I wish I could compare them. I have no real experience
with Elementals offerings, RE, or Adire. I thought it was better than the
Eclipse sub of a similar price, but again, I haven't heard much of it. And
we all know that install is at least half of a subwoofer's presentation.

I would recommend this sub to anyone that wants more than... your
typical subwoofer.
:-)

I tell you what.. I can't imagine how people can stand to run 1000watts to this sub. At 230, it gives me a headache pretty quick from the SPL... I cant wait to get a bigger amp...

Brian,
Are you running this sub in your truck? I'll have to come up there and you can help me install my sub in my vette.

And the beauty of that sub is…as good as it performs with only 230 watts…it doesn't even tap its potential until you get at least 1000 watts to it. It REALLY comes alive then. :yesnod: :reddevil

Let us know how you like it when it gets broke in and you add the additional power to it.
