I'm trying to talk my dad into putting a Pioneer IMP 10" Sub with new door speakers and an amp to power everything. I've got a big a** system in my truck. 2 Audiobahn 12's with a 1500w Audiobahn Mono amp. 2 Polk Momo Components powered by an Alpine 250w 2 ch (I need a far bigger amp) and an Alpine head unit. So I know what I'm doing. He doesn't want something that big. Just a little thump with some nice mid's and high's. For awhile he'll probably run with the stock headunit. My questions are this. Where can I put the 10" so it will sound good and not take up a lot of space. It's a convertible and all he really carries back there is his golf bag and maybe one piece of luggage. Are the factory Bose speakers even worth a darn? I was thinking maybe a set of Infinity Components up front and Pioneer 2 ways in the rear powered by like a 400w RMS 4 ch amp. What do yall think?
I had a set of Infinity Kappa Components but I blew them from playing them to loud. The nice thing about the Polk's is that I can play them very loud without blowing them. They don't sound as good as the Infinity's did, but they are nice and LOUD!!!!!
Just about any 6.5 over $80 can get loud enough to seriously damage your hearing with at least 60 watts of power.
All it takes is 90db at the right frequency to cause the internals of your ear to weaken... after a few years.. tinnitus... Do you hear a ringing sound? Maybe permanent hearing loss when the fibers break... What? I cant hear you?
