Amp for the Kicker S10L5
Okay Im buyin the Kicker Solobaric 10 inch sub from Lars ( which he is givin me a great deal on,Thanks Lars!) and what i need now is a good 400watts@4ohms. Im lookin at the US Acoustics USB-2150 for like $170 at Crutchfield, but if anyone has a comperable amp or has seen one advertised for less i would like to know. Thanks for everyones help.-Nick :D "Im finally gettin a sub!!!" :lol:

Hey Nick, glad to hear that you're getting the sub from Lars. He only sells good stuff and he is reputable! :) About the amp, I don't know if Alpine MRD-M500 is a good choice for you? It puts out 500 RMS watts @ 2 ohm 14.4V. Maybe you can ask Lars again to get him to recommend you an amp? :)

Ok, well Lars has recommended about 400 watts to push the sub. I was lookin at US Acoustics but ive found a sub that should push it and it looks really cool too. Its a JBL P180.2 with around 360watts and i think it might be a little underated, so it should sound good. Lars says that it should make for a clean install b/c it has direct power connect. So everything is lookin good, im gonna buy the sub off ebay tomm. so i let everyone know how the whole project progresses.- Nick ( thanks again Lars) :D

I just bought an MTX Thunder4250D for $130 shipped. It's got good power (300watts x 1 @ 2ohm), with a 100dB signal-to-noise ratio, and it's a Class D amp. :thumbs:

That sub needs a lot of power. Which voice coils does it have, dual 2-ohm or dual 4-ohm? Dual 2-ohm can give a 1 or 4 ohm load, Dual 4-ohm can give a 2 or 8 ohm load.
I have an almost brand new Alpine MRD-M500 amp that I am looking to sell. I am looking to upgrade to the brand new Alpine MRD-M1000 to push a pair of S10L5s.
If your S10L5 has dual 4-ohm coils than you can wire the coils in parallel for a 2-ohm load and the Amp will be a perfect match. The amp can be used with the optional Alpine RUX-4280 remote control center to control all DSP settings from the driver seat. You can also monitor amp temp, voltage, and current draw.
MAX Power (at 14.4V,EIAJ)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 900W x 1
RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-200Hz)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 400W x 1
Per channel into 4 ohms : 200W x 1
RMS Power (at 14.4V,20Hz-200Hz)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 500W x 1
Per channel into 4 ohms : 250W x 1

The sub he is getting is a dual 2ohm. It is wired at 4ohms. He is better off getting a stereo amp and bridging it, because the impedance of 4 ohms is not ideal for a class d amp which usually make double the power at 2 ohms.
