I'm looking at these elemental subs...either 2x8" or 2x10" if i can fit the 10's I will go with them most likely.
Anyways, I'm not an audio expert so i have a few questions.

I'd just like a few explanations of various terms since there is such a difference between the 8" and the 10".
What does each of those mean in terms that I can understand and why is there such a difference between the two?
Also, I'm curious how "deep/tall/high" the sub is from top to bottom..(so I can see if it'll fit)...It says the 'Mounting Depth' is 15.5cm...is that what I'm looking for?
According to Kale, 2 10's (e10a or IDMAX10) would blow you out of the vette, I have just been in ongoing emails with them today about the e10a and their Avionix amps. Great ppl to deal with, I was going to buy used but I can buy basically equivalent (as buy direct so mktg costs are minimum) from them new instead of taking my chanced with used. This is what I will be doing either an IDMAX10" or e10a with their Avionix 800.2 to drive it, and for now keep my Alpine (75x4) to drive the 6.5 components and the 4x6 dash top speakers.
well as far as i go i am no audio expert but i know a bit more than most. any way if i were you and i had the space for two tens then i would just go with a 12" two eights would be fine but in my opinion eights just can get all the low end like 30 hz and below not without a good ported and box which you just wont have the space for. you might want to check out the dayton audio 12" dsq great sub its what i run and it only needs 1 cubic foot to be properly tuned in a sealed box so it can fit but it will be tight. check it out at partsexpress.com sorry dont know how to post links but i do know what sounds good. :seeya

First off it depends on what he wants, 2 10's will be louder than a single a 12, but if he wants it to hit lower than yea a 12 would be better. also a ported 8 only takes the space of a sealed 10, so he'd be able to run 2 ported 8s and only need 1.0 cube, so he's got plenty of space for that. It just brakes down to what type of bass he wants.

I seriously hope you didn't pay that much for that sub... the sub is crap. it's barely got more xmax than Elemental's 8A... We're talking top of the line subs here the Elementals A series and ID's MAX.
Well I'd like to have 2 subs, so I can have one in each corner with the design I am thinking. I have heard 8's and 10's and I really prefer the 10's....8's don't seem to hit low enough for me.

you can fit a pair of 10s without a problem. The mounting depth of the 10A is 155mm(6.10") but like I said you'll need to leave at least 3/4" of extra space open behind the sub for venting. Each one will need 0.5 cubes after displacement. If you're going to do a wrap around fiberglass install, make sure you reinforce the sub mounting point as the sub is 34 pounds. The 10A also has a recommended power of 800 watts, so the bigger the amp the better for your subs.
Yeah, I made a 1:1 model of the sub last night...I'm going to go play later and see how it fits. 800watts per sub seems HUGE...these things must really pound.
