I made some rings to angle the tweeters and the mids with but now I found that my darm tweeters are firing into the door skin. Upon closer examination, especially the drivers side, theres really no way of getting a even close to on axis shot with this short of coaxial , and a coax would put the tweeters way down low. Im rethinking the idea of using the A pillars. This way the dern steering wheel wont be in the way, and the A pillar covers should be fairly cheap to replace if need be. It should be easy to wire and they're pretty much "aimed" already. Also, the dash is faily symetrical too, so the sound should be pretty uniform. Input?
You mean those nice mdf angling rings you made aren't working out?
Damn, ...I was gonna build some for my doors. :(
Well, let me know when you fix OUR design so that it works properly! :D
Rings work awesome. The tweeters I misplaced though, the driver side fires right into the door panel. I had to move them around slightly. The driver side isnt quite the same as the passenger side either. I had to improvise the passenger side by cutting a hole in the angling mount.
Very interesting. Never tried it up there, but I'd imagine it be alotta work.
As for the left and rights not matchin,f you take a look at the shape of the door skins they arent the same, probbly cause of the air condition duct on the driver side and larger window/lock controls.
Don't know the details, installer handled it. What I do know though is they removed the covers from the cross bar. They then cut the template in wood and used that to figure the actual cutting that they needed to do. They then mounted the speaker under the cover, covered the template in speaker cloth then reupholstered the covers and mounted them back in place.
I have to admit that what they actually did wasn't at all what I was expecting (I was expecting a rather ugly 1" circle cut in the crossbar).
I have to agree  . I'm in the process of ripping the entire system out of my Z-06 and replacing it... custom built sub box that fits in the well, Soundstream D'Artagnon 5.1 channel amp. JL speakers all around, Pioneer DVD-7500 with XM box....I'm doing the work myself and have the car stripped to the bare fiberglass in the interior, but I don't think I'm up to tearing apart the entire dash just to mount the tweets, just a little bit more work than I'm up for  . Anyway, your installer did a wonderfull job. I'd be pretty happy with that result!
