Just playing with bass boost, test tones, and crossover settings. Do you know someone else with a stereo that can test them for you?
when testing a non mounted speaker, you want to run the gains ALL the way down and start the volume at 0, slowly raise it to see if you hear the sound.
are they under warranty? im sure that Focal can fix them either way.. but I'd be worried you might toast them again. its unusual for one W speaker to go, but both?

They would be under warranty, but I didn't buy from an authorized dealer. Gotta call the guy I brought them from and see if he can help or call Focal directly and see what happens.
What do you think could have happened for them to "toast"? I have a very similar set up to yours (same HU and amps). My gains are set about half way. I had the utopia's crossed over at about 65hz, and I was about to change to up to 80hz this past weekend, but I guess I didn't get a chance for that.
Would water damage them? It does get wet in the C5 doors! There is a little rust spot on the inside of the hole of the magnet.
Also does the sub level on the HU control the sub-w out only?
THis sucks driving around with no music. This car is my daily driver.
either they got so hot they burned, or it was mechanical damage. Neither of which should be an issue with that amp. Neither of which should really happen at the same time. When you say you tested for continuity..
did you use an ohmmeter set to 0-20 ohm and measure directly from the speaker terminals?
Water COULD damage them. I'd imagine my c4 would have been way worse for that though, and it wasnt an issue.
Did you buy them used?
yeah, the sub out is a sub volume control basically. 15 is nominal, then you can reduce it 15 steps.
