I have a 1990 Bose CD/cassette system and my rear speakers just make a low static noise now. The front speakers still work okay. I removed a rear speaker to see if I could see anything and it looks brand new, no dust or anything. Does that mean I have a problem with the head unit or could it still be both rear speakers?

Re: Question for a C4 Bose expert (Bans25)
Sounds like the amps are bad (located in the speaker housing)
:iagree: That is sometimes one of the symptoms of an amp dieing. If you ever start to hear a faint high-pitched whine, that is a dead giveaway the Blose amps are dieing.
Check the wiring going to the speakers and make sure the connections from the wires to the speaker/amp pod are securely fastened.

Thanks, I do hear that whining noise. I guess I was confused because everthing looked so clean when I looked at it. Do you know if sells the amps can be bought seperately or do I have to buy a new speaker too?

Yes, the amp is sold separately but is that really the path you want to take? That speaker is made of paper and is already 13 years old; it will undoubtedly go soon as well. You may be better served by just replacing the whole Blose system with aftermarket, unless, of course, you are selling the car? If you still wish to keep it stock you can buy new amps and such from places like Ecklers just to name one source.
