I want to drop my HVAC controls into the ash tray area, then put a single DIN HU into the area where the HVAC originally was. Will it be a perfect fit? (<- the HU) Or will I need to do some cutting? I haven't pulled it apart yet, so I'm not sure if there's anything behind the HVAC controls that would be in the way. The HU is 6-1/2” deep.
I just put a din sized EQ in the same place and moved my HVAC contols to the bottom. No issues at all except having to drill a couple of extra holes to mount the HVAC contol.
After you cut out the ash tray area, how do you secure the piece to the frame, I know there are 2 screws in that section holding the plastic trim piece on there? Do you just the one screw by the ignition???
I just used the one by the ignition and the 2 screws under the ride control switch. There are a couple of snap tabs along the edges adn top that hold the unit in pretty securely.
