1990 headunit install question
I was hoping to buy a new pioneer headunit that plays mp3's to install into the dash. I believe it is the 7500MP unit.
Does anyone have any information concerning headunit installs in 90 corvettes? I would very much like to install this headunit but I am uncertain where I can get a mounting kit that would look great and not have a big gap around the outside of the headunit faceplate which shows off the mounting hardware.
Also, does anyone have any wiring information?
Thanks for your help everyone...I've installed a rather potent stereo in our other car, but it seems to me that theres some issues that I'd like to work out before I tear apart our vette.
I didn't use the DIN sleeve to install the deck. The deck has threaded holes on the side. I made custom sheet metal brackets which screw to the sides of the decks and mount them the same as the factory radio. It took a few tries to get the position right.
There is also a plastic piece in the back of the radio cavity which I had cut out for a previous install.
For power, I tapped into the wiring for the radio control box, above the passenger footwell. I'm not using the speaker outputs, just external amps, which get power directly from the battery.
